Automated Picking & Planting Machine for micro seeds
Most popular
use for Genome Analysis is seeds of Alabidopsis
thaliana
at
present. It has a lot of gene which is common with gene of rice, wheat,
soybea, industrial plants. Also, it takes about 1.5 month from
germination to seeding. Therefore, Alabidopsis
thaliana
contributes
to shorten period of research. They say that Alabidopsis
thaliana is model plant for Genome Analysis.
Do you feel any trouble for planting of micro seeds of plants such as Alabidopsis thaliana for research ?

Example of application of S-Feeder in Nagoya University, Center of Gene Research Laboratory of Plant Genomics Goup (headed by Prof. Masahiro Ishiura) are researching "Large-scale screening of Arabidopsis circadian clock mutants by a high-throughput real-time bioluminescence monitoring system".
They used S-Feeder for Measurement of circadian bioluminescence rhythms. They assayed the circadian bioluminescence rhythms from seedlings as follows. Surface-sterilized seeds were incubated at 4°C in DD for 2 days, sown on MS-1.5/0.3, and germinated in LL. They used S-Feeder that enabled them to sow seeds on medium at 5 sec per seed.
